Construction Update: April 20, 2018
VTrans would like to keep you informed of construction activities for:
Woodstock Village US Route 4 Bridge 51
The Woodstock Village US Route 4 Bridge 51 21-day closure period will remain in effect until Monday, May 7, 2018. All vehicular and pedestrian traffic will be detoured during this time.
Local businesses along US Route 4 on both sides of the work zone will remain accessible to pedestrians via a pedestrian detour: Elm Street to Pleasant Street to Bond Street, back on Central Street (US Route 4).
Project Location: US Route 4 Bridge 51 in Woodstock Village over the Kedron Brook.
A 21-day closure period of Woodstock Bridge 51 will remain in effect until Monday, May 7, 2018.
Throughout the closure period, traffic is being maintained on offsite detours. New stop signs have been installed on Elm Street heading north at the intersection of Pleasant Street, and on Central Street (US Route 4) heading east at the intersection with Pleasant Street and Central Street. Please be advised that traffic will not stop for cars travelling east at the junction of Pleasant Street and Central Street. The map below depicts the location of the new stop signs. This change will provide increased safety and assist with traffic flow throughout the duration of the detour.
Pedestrian Detour: US Route 4 to Elm Street, Pleasant Street, Bond Street, back to US Route 4 (0.4 miles)
Local Detour: US Route 4 to Elm Street, Pleasant St, back to US Route 4 (0.56 miles). The local detour route is not appropriate for trucks due to the geometric constraints and the volume of traffic on US Route 4.
Route 4 Detour (39.7 miles): US Route 4, to VT Route 12, US Route 5 (VT Route 12), VT Route 44, VT Route 106, back to US Route 4
White River – Rutland Truck Detour (55 miles): Rutland to White River: US Route 4 east, to VT Route 100 north, to VT Route 107 north, to Interstate 89 south.
White River to Rutland: Interstate 89 / Interstate 91, I-89 north to Exit 3, to VT 107 south, to VT 100 south, to US Route 4 west.
Parking on US Route 4 between Mechanic Street and High Street on the south side of the road is no longer available. Parking from High Street to the Post Office driveway on the north side of the road is no longer available. Meters are bagged and no parking signs have been installed.
Please focus on safety when driving through the construction work zone and remember, it is illegal in Vermont to use any handheld portable electronic devices while driving. The law carries fines of up to $200 with points assessed if the violation occurs in a work zone.
