update at 5:17pm Rt 4 East of the Village of Woodstock has been fully re-opened. Due to a downed tree and power line, Rt. 4 East of the Village of Woodstock is down to one lane. Woodstock Police Department are assisting with detours and traffic. All updates for this event and any other emergency will be broadcast via VT Alerts. “The approved potable water pipe that we are replacing the fire hoses with should be arriving today, courtesy of the National Guard who is graciously transporting it for us. In preparation for that, we reached out to the State yesterday for clarification on what tests we need to take to be able to lift the notices. They informed us we need clear bacteria tests, and increased chlorine levels present throughout the system. We take a chlorine residual everyday, but to prove the increased chlorine has reached the entire system, we will need to take chlorine residuals from multiple locations from all sides of the system. The Woodstock Aqueduct asks customers to continue to conserve water. The water tank is. critically low and cannot be properly replenished with the current level of use. The DO NOT DRINK order is still in place. The Aqueduct is working with the state to bring in and install a pipe so that water can be tested for drinking approval. The Aqueduct is hopeful that the pipe and testing can be completed by Tuesday or Wednesday. The Aqueduct will provide an update when available. Bottled water is available at the Woodstock Emergency Services Building.

From the Woodstock Aqueduct Company Do not drink water from the Woodstock Aqueduct System until further notice. Boiling water will not make it safe to consume. You CAN use the water to flush, bathe, wash hands and clean items that will not be used for the consumption of food or drink. You CANNOT use the water to drink, cook, wash dishes or other items that may go into a persons mouth such as a retainer or baby toys. The Woodstock Aqueduct Company is working with the State of Vermont to fix the problem and anticipates it may be resolved by Tuesday or Wednesday following the installation of a new pipe. The Town…
