Position: Finance Director

Overview:

The Town and Village of Woodstock are seeking a dynamic and visionary Finance Director to spearhead the transformation of our financial management practices. This is an exciting time to join the Woodstock team as we embark on a journey to revamp our financial processes, budgeting strategies, and fiscal accountability. Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute financial strategies in alignment with the Town and Village’s goals and objectives.
  • Oversee budget preparation, financial forecasting, and variance analysis to ensure fiscal responsibility and transparency.
  • Collaborate with the Municipal Manager, department heads, and elected officials to review financial reports and advise on budgetary decisions.
  • Implement modern financial technologies and software to streamline financial operations and reporting.
  • Monitor grants, funding opportunities, and potential revenue sources to optimize financial resources.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations and reporting requirements.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Proven experience (at least 5 years) in a senior financial management role, preferably in a municipal or governmental setting.
  • Thorough understanding of municipal finance practices, budgeting, and financial reporting.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with financial software and technology solutions.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
